Create a Plan for Your Big Moving Day
The process of moving to a new house is one of the most stressful things you can do in life. That said, there are many people who take on this task every day, and they all have one thing in common – organization. The more organized you can be, the smoother the whole process will be on the big moving day. If you haven’t created a plan yet, then here are a few things to help you.
Have You Prepared Your Moving Box?
Part of the packing process should have included a moving box; this box will have all the essentials you need when you first arrive in your new home. Because you don’t want to be fumbling through boxes when you arrive, make sure your moving box has toilet rolls, a kettle or coffee maker, milk, sugar and anything else you think you’ll need. You would be surprised how many people don’t pack such a box and have to go without a drink for half of the day.
Get Helpers There Early
If you are lucky enough to have a group of helpers that are going to assist with the move, then ask them if they can get there as early as possible. It will help you to get started straight away and hopefully mean you are finished before nightfall. If you have friends that are not able to help you all day, then perhaps you can ask them to do an opposite shift with others so that you have help all day. It is also a nice gesture to give your helpers a little gift for helping, it might be a bottle of wine or perhaps a take-out at the new home.
Are Vehicles Ready for the Journey?
If you are moving far away, then you will need to be able to get there without any problems. That means you need to ensure that all the vehicles you are taking are running well and have no problems. You can get them checked at a garage before you go, or you can try to fix them yourself. You can find out about the best rated OBD2 devices online; they will help you to diagnose any issues you are having. If you are also hiring the van, then make sure the day before that the company is still ok to supply the van.
Send a Team Ahead
Unless you are moving a long way away, you should send a couple of people, or yourselves ahead of the moving van to your new home. They can then direct the boxes when they arrive and start to fit the beds together and get the kitchen ready. These little things will make a big difference when it’s getting late, and all you want is to go to bed.
By organizing these few things in advance, you can save yourself a lot of hassle on moving day. It will also make the whole day more organized and more efficient if everyone knows what they are doing.
