Now - with eager anticipation, we await a Council Rates freeze.

Or better yet, a General Rates Order Decrease. (Anyone member Rob Muldoon and MRP?)

Then to be followed by a General Income & Company Tax Rates Order Decrease.

Then a General MPs Pay & Allowances Order Decrease. (For at least two weeks. )

    Dream on.

      Gummint Ageism Discrimination

      Monday 23 March 8.00pm.

One has to wonder. Go to the gummint's 'official' web site for the latest updates on the Covid-19 virus and . . .

Next-to-nothing. No definitive list of dos and don'ts.

Instead, web page visitors get pointed to faecesbook, shitstagram, pootube or crapchat or some other equally as unofficial and unreliable web site.

      WTF?

      Over 65?

Seems that Taxcindarella and co have adopted the "Italian model."

I.e. If you don't have a computer or account with faecesbook, shitstagram, pootube, crapchat, or the like, please go away and die quietly.

      Bloody appalling!

MJ Savage must be spinning in his grave.

Regarding rent freezes. What about ones that were notified to the tenant and already set in motion, that have not yet kicked in, before the announcement?

Sounds like virtual reality. This is a national emergency. Life during wartime even 😞.
I'm just giving all mine a break till this situation becomes less aggressive.

Our builder firm is Kapiti based and really busy on 'big' projects - new builds etc (they have a lot of builders working for them) so I don't believe they'd be in for a 3 hour job in Wellington.

Just let it all out on here Perry

Yeah though on the whole I think the Gov't are doing as well as they can given the circumstances.

                Banks are e-notifying a variety of restrictions-to-normal-branch-functions.

No email? No Internet connection? Bugger.

                Please die quietly.

Wonder (if) when the first death will occur in NZ?

Anecdotally - I've also heard that the "official" number of infections is being politically 'massaged' / 'sanitised.'

Hi Guys, Is there any infor available at this stage in line of Rates payments, Insurance payments, General maintenance, or healthy house upgrade? Are landlords get holiday or free cover for next six months or reduced rate for tradesman work. The reason for this question is that a tenant of a certain caliber would ask now whether they should pay rent during this Mortgage holiday. Apparently we have to educate them that it is very similar to the way they pay for groceries, water, electricity, internet , SkyTV etc

Gotta giggle. I'm neither panicked nor fearful. Nor in need of a chiller.

On Wed 25 Mar. the gummint announced a State of Emergency - something that gives it sweeping powers. I.e. Democratic / human rights and due process are suspended.

But one constructive announcement was the suspension of parliament. That means nasty, inequitable and nefarious bits of legislation being pushed by big socialist Little and FarGonBoy will be postponed for now.

COVID 19 - Passing on mortgage holiday discounts to tenants

Hi All - I found this article that articulates the savings a mortgage holder gets from a mortgage holiday. This could be a useful resource for you to share with tenants to see that real savings the land lord recieves.

                              https://twineadvisers.co.nz/mortgage...iday-cost-you/

Spoiler alert - there is no saving, it adds cost. A mortgage holiday is simply a cash flow management tool... one the banks were supported into by the GOVT and they're broadly ok will allowing as they have security over your asset. As a landlord your only security on an extension of credit to your tenant is 4 wks bond.

The COVID-19 Response (Urgent Management Measures) Legislation Bill took effect at midnight. This has created a new Schedule 5 for the Residential Tenancies Act 1986.
