  • Bill English says we're in for some long term pain and don't expect any real border activity until March '21.

Gov't shouldn't get involved with propping up sectors that fail like tourism and instead focus on assisting innovators that create jobs i.e. in the digital space.

    • Unfortunately we (like the British and unlike the post-war Japanese) have a tradition of subsidising failure and punishing success.

      • Guys, Covid 19 is not that bad - only 1% of currently infected people in the world are serious or critical. The common cold is a coronavirus, and besides, there are treatments for Covid 19 that work and stop people dying.

NZ won't be able to keep this virus out. Better to let it go through the whole country. The more cases the better - the faster it will burn out and be gone. The whole world has gone mad with fear over something that's not at all frightening. Compare this to the 1665 plague in London, for example, and put things into perspective.

Irrelevant. It is the perception which has the effect of danger. Just the same as "P" contamination.

                He's missing has golf buddies.

This Covid thing has really stuffed the golf scene.
I can't believe you selfish people want to let public safety get in the way of a good round of Golf.

                You're all so selfish.

                • Back to level 3 for AKL and level 2 for NZ for a few days - unless you're psychic and then you may know more than the rest of us.

Innerspace Astrologist and Psychic Sarah King says.....

                  Level 3 - Mid Sept 2020
                  Level 4 - Mid Oct 2020 (6 weeks)
                  Level 3 - Early Dec 2020
                  Level 2 - Early Jan 2021
                  Level 1 - between April & Aug 2021

                  Source

                  Fingers crossed this doesn't eventuate.

                  cheers,

                  Donna

Agreed . We are now seeing that the Sweden approach was the correct path through herd immunity. This 2nd phase of this lockdown is exercising more imminent control upon us with the pushing of face mask use.
I now see folks everywhere , wearing facemasks lest someone screams at them "How dare you not" like sheeple devotees following a command. Sad how so many have being induced into been a zombified mass - that's how communism works .

No screams in HB, yet. Just dirty looks in some places.

That HB has had no new cases for months*, doesn't bother the cranially-challenged sheople.

                      * Peaked at 44 on 28 April - over three months ago!

Sweden doesn't have herd immunity yet and is quite a long way from it still.
As for masks - wear if it makes sense, no order otherwise (except at Auckland Airport and planes leaving Auckland).

                        • Rumours abound - just the stuff of the forum jeffster.

I heard that some shops are refusing access to people who do not have a cell phone with the tracking app.

Masks seem to be an awkward thing. Didn't the man now recommending them say earlier they were of little practical benefit?

So far, there have been no known new cases in the Gisborne / Hawke's Bay region since 28 April, (over three-and-a-half months) so why we not at level one bemuses me.

                          • You can walk into a dairy, gas station, supermarket but have to stand out in the cold to get a muffin & a coffee, is this what they talk about when they say this is the "new normal"?

Next up, camera profiling, digital currency only and a cashless society, watch this space!

                            • Around Auckland I see:
                              - masks being used as chinstraps
                              - masks hanging off one ear
                              - people meeting, and taking off masks to talk to each other
                              - masks covering mouth but not nose
                              - people scratching their faces through their masks (therefore transferring any greebies onto their hands)
                              - removable masks thrown down onto footpaths, beaches and into waterways.

But hey, they are obeying the letter of the request!

                              • Masks make sense sometimes, but

Single people sitting in the car, walking the beach ? wearing a mask and sniffing in stale air ? is that addictive?

At least low levels of oxygen to brain have an effect ?
                                Nobody ask questions

                                • Why recording + tested people with no symptoms as sick people
                                • Why appears a person once + tested after unrelated death as corona victim?
                                • How many people actually died off by now compared to past years?

                                (e.g. 2017 - NZ had a mortality rate 33,599/year, roughly estimated 650/week)
                                • How many years has the corona virus been known, Covid-19 is just a mutation?
                                • And despite of flu vaccinations every year, has ever a flu season been prevented?
                                • In the news ? during Covid-19: aprox 600 suicides and how many death because of restricted health care for people waiting for treatments?

My stand is people have to live with weed in the garden and learn to cope with corona.
