The words he is using here are strangely similar to his attempted sell on Kiwisaver kickstart.
Prime Minister John Key has admitted that New Zealand will have to pay more for medicines if it signs up to the Trans Pacific Partnership but he says this was unlikely to affect consumers.

"But for consumers that won't make any difference because on subsidised drugs you pay $5 for your prescription. So the Government may incur slightly more costs there."

He said the greater costs would be balanced out by the revenue from increased exports which would result from the deal.

IRD document contradicts John Key's claims about KiwiSaver changes
Inland Revenue warned cutting KiwiSaver incentives would hit enrolments, contradicting Prime Minister John Key's claim it had advised changes would "not make a blind bit of difference".

"The question for New Zealanders is as simple as this: Do you think if
we have access to the massive United States and Japanese markets with
our exporters having a level playing field, will they do better or
worse, will it create more jobs or less, will the country be more
      prosperous as a result?"
It will be OK, all the new prosperity will trickle down to the folks in Manurewa!

The removal of the kiwisaver 'kick start' is just the beginning of the process to make kiwisaver compulsory. The opt-out provision will go.

After all, if they have to enrol there is no need to offer an incentive.

Absolute, total and utter BS. The USA will protect its
local farmers in any way it can. The costs to NZ in
other, unspoken (aka conveniently not mentioned)
            areas will be huge.

E.g. ISDS, Tobacco and liquor regulation, local gov't.
services, national gov't services, and so on.

If it was such a great deal, they'd make all the TPPA
terms public. Only those with something to hide have
            anything to fear.

US, Japan and Korea all protect their farmers like god and subsidise them to the tilt.

I dont see how NZ can benefit from TPPA

                think

korea cut its farmers adrift some years ago

Japan’s farming population stands out even amid its rapidly graying demographics. The average age of its farmers was 65.9 in 2011.

I think Hep C treatment may be a problem

                  from Huff Post
Gilead Sciences is an American pharmaceutical company driven by unquenchable greed. The company is causing hundreds of thousands of Americans with Hepatitis C to suffer unnecessarily and many of them to die as the result of its monopolistic practices, while public health programs face bankruptcy.

                  Gilead's Greed That Kills

Gilead announced that it would use its newly acquired monopoly rights to charge a whopping $84,000 per treatment for Solvadi
(and $96,000 for Harvoni, a slightly different formulation), even though the actual production costs
                  are
estimated to be somewhere around $68 - $136.

Gilead's markup over costs may be close to 1,000-to-1, probably a world record.

Under TPP Exports expected to increase by $1B by 2025 - hence the Govt said they would just pay the extra cost of medicines by upping the contribution.

                    cheers,

These sorts of things always end up illusionary.

If this disaster does happen, any betters on not
even half the $1B will be realised, nett, by 2025.

With luck, I just might live long enough to collect
or pay, as the case may be.

TPP deal is precarious - NZ envoy

New Zealand's special agricultural trade envoy at the TPP talks in Hawaii has cast doubt on whether the trade deal is going to be acceptable to New Zealand.
Negotiators from the 12 countries in the talks are meeting in Hawaii in an effort to wrap up the deal this week.

Mike Petersen said more concessions on dairy products were needed before New Zealand could sign the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement.
A New Zealand representative at the TPP talks in Hawaii says the deal is currently not good enough for New Zealand to accept.
