    Rena cleanup

Wonder how many unemployment beneficiaries are being bussed in each day to help the beach cleanup.

Maybe I'm being a bit of a thicky here but........ What's the point of cleaning up the oil while it's still leaking? Aren't they going to have to redo bits over and over again?

    Cheers
Spaceman ...... PS my guess is zero, because it would probably be some kind of human rights violation there SB

I'm just waiting for some of the 4,000 cases of Astrolabe Sav Blanc that are hopefully still on the Astrolabe Reef to appear on trade me.

What are the chances of something like that ever happening again?

The media are so irritating the way they're giving a voice to all the ignorant loud-mouths that know nothing of the complexities of the situation but are bleating about how it should have all been cleaned up in 48 hours.

They'll be a sigh of relief once the pumping of oil of Rena starts - and more so after the 28 hours it's expected to take to empty the tanks.

          Cheers,

          Donna

Would be nice to stroll down to the Beach and pick up a bottle of wine each night.

Def too many people blowing hot air. There were all the gung ho people who went down there to clean up the beach when they were told to wait for the professionals and all they managed to do was leave plastic bags of oily sand below the high tide line and spread oil all over the car parks. I agree its frustrating and would have been wonderful if it was sorted in 24 hours but there is a lot of work to arrange that sort of thing.

The politicians need to stop point scoring off each other - you can tell its an election year.

Def get all the beneficiaries up to do some work for their free money, they can bring their kids too, so no issues with childcare, even put on some buses so no issues with transport, there are BBQs at the beach - we can call it work experience.

Yeah it's not like there's even a contest this election - I am already sick of seeing the politicians banners, adverts, etc.

What do they expect to achieve putting up a photo of a candiate and the party name do they really expect us to vote for someone based on what their face looks like?

So. I had to google it to find out who was leading in the "no contest" contest.

I note national gets bagged a lot on this Forum, which has always confused me a little as generally speaking, I would expect Investors to be Right leaning.

So what is going on? Are National crap, but less crap than Labour? Are National not too bad, but unfairly represented on this forum? Or are we better just to pitch a tent, 'occupy' a public space and wait for the onset of anarchy?

Are you not in NZ The_Dog? National are preferred on PropertyTalk.com. And if Labour get in Moody's will downgrade us - so there's a 'no confidence' vote if ever you need one.

                        Cheers,

I agree, National do get bagged a lot on here, but I take that to be more of a love slap!

Editorial: Key's second-hand S&P tattle not good enough

It is hard to know which is worse: John Key's claim in Parliament that Standard & Poor's said a ratings downgrade was more likely if Labour came into power, or his attempted justification - that an unnamed person had sent him an email saying something like that. Both offence and defence were way too loose for the office he holds.

I think Nick mentioned it last night - but in retrospect I think the two ratings agencies were mentioned - Moodys was more than likely going to downgrade us soon and if Labour got in S&P will downgrade us further.
