  • fencing (metal) and gate where is the cheapest place to get it?

Hello, I am planning to put in new fencing and gate for the first time and was wondering where is the cheapest place to get the materials for fence that's made from metal or steel. I have been calling companies and asking how much to do the fencing but they ask for too much and i just moved in so i don't' have much money left so i have decided to buy the material and do it by my self. if you can tell me where is the cheapest place to by the materials (fencing supply) in Auckland that would be greatly appreciated thanks,

I don't think that there is any such thing as a cheap metal fence!

In Silverdale. Very helpful to newbie. Don't think they're the cheapest.
Bought gate + 18m of cheapest steel fencing for ~$2.5K a few years ago.
Still looks good - no rust.

Easiest fence I've ever put up.

If I ever have to put one up for myself, after doing
a few at other places, my choice would be a mix of
materials, if the situation lent itself to that. Wooden
posts, (breast blocked and rammed, not concreted),
metal horizontals (close to top and bottom, metal
capping, wooden vertical planks and a light stain.
          Definitely not dark or black.

If the fence ever gets damaged, (runaway car?)
I reckon that materials configuration would be the
          easiest to fix.

A lot more hassle to replace; as well as adjust, if the post warps. And
round post are a MUST - not square ones. They warp the worst!
