I'm a big fan of maid services, but for some reason they refuse to wear the uniform I require.

It is actually biology. Women want to mate with the best darn male specimen that will produce the best darn kids. Ten thousand years ago that was the biggest, strongest hunk, now it is the guy who has the biggest wallet. Today it is the biggest house, in the 1960s it was cars. Men want to have the biggest fan of peacock feathers to attract the best peahen. Now, of course, career women have money so they don't need the men for that, so back we go 10,000 years. In 25 years, guys, you will all have to be hunks to get partners to breed with and women will all be 10 years older than you."

This is totally correct. I recently read this book:http://www.amazon.com/Mating-Mind-Se.../dp/038549517X

It turns out that we evolve more for sex reasons than survival ones. Everyone's heard of Darwin's survival of the fittest line of reasoning. This is called natural selection. But he actually wrote a lot more about sexual selection. This is like a male peacock developing a big tail because the females like them, so they breed with them. Then their daughters have their mothers desire for big tails and their sons have big tails from their father.

So basically we're evolving to attract mates. This is the rationale behind rich guys being attractive. The houses, cars etc. It's all just bling like a big tail.

And yeah a big house is a hassle. Especially if you also have big grounds.... constant work just to keep it tidy!
      Squadly dinky do!

And all this time I thought women found Hugh Hefner and Donald Trump attractive.

Ironic that big house = worthy partner, but big car usually means something quite different.

I drive a supermini. Draw your own conclusions, ladies.

I've always thought that the most common/innocuous
car of reasonable standard/performance was best. If
it's common, it's not usually attractive to low lifes.
Often less expensive to repair/get parts for, too.
Those who drive Bentleys or the like may well attract
attention from all the wrong sorts.

Housing styles and choices might not fit that para-
digm, though. Does the the same go for clothes?
Why bother 'making a statement?' Just get on with
the finer things in life. Who cares if you're wearing
a Rolex, have Pierre Cardin handkerchiefs or some
                Louis Vuitton underwear? Dealus Giganticus.

I went through the usual young-man car thing.
MG-B, Lotus Super Seven, Torana XU-1, Escort RS1600
Then I grew up and bought a Toyota station wagon.

Maybe that's why I have never had hordes of gorgeous young blonde females throwing themselves at me.

I always wonder why get a good car when the speed limit is 100km/h. More into good planes rather, but guess I won't get gorgeous young blonde males for that.

All you need for that is a Harley. They're slow and can't go around corners but they vibrate like mad and usually make so much noise no one can hear them scream.

Personally I have always found the best way to ward off the evil spirits is to be poor.

It's not all about the speed limit, Janey. The answer to your question is "handling".

Anyway, the limit is but a guide.

A 4x4 (prefer Toyota) and some padocks will do me, no gardens wasted grazing land them.

I have enjoyed many lovely posts containing expensive tickets from such a guide. Though I agree with handling part.

Well it got me my FIA International Racing Driver's licence, which seemed to be important at the time.

                                No, I thought not.
