  • PropertyTalk's been upgraded!

    Hi All,

As you can see we have (finally) sorted out our upgrade - and there's still quite a lot to do before we can say it's complete.

How's it going? Are you experiencing any issues - please can you report them here. We have been informed of a few niggles so I thought it wise to start a thread so you can add your experiences here for us to fix.

    cheers,

    Donna

.... I'm enjoying the new emoticons

Is there a short tutoprial anywhere? SOmething with headings or guides that will say What was userCP, is now Settings and suchlike.

Oh, what was the reasons for the change?

Reason - stability of systems. We held off for as long as we could.

...good idea re. starting a thread on feature changes aye....do you want to start it off Seymour?

        Cheers,

        Donna

On the list of topics (e.g. New Posts), the pop-up preview used to only show if you hovered over the thread title; now it appears when you hover anywhere on the row, which can be quite annoying.

Any way of reverting to the previous behaviour.

              PT Unuseable

So the new look PT is no longer possible to view properly on my IE.

The message panel is hiding in a sea of blank area which I must carefully track over in order to find it. I know you probably designed it with Firefox in mind or some other browser much loved by computernerds, but the casual user needs to be able to use standard software.

i can't appear to log in to PT on my main computer, hovering the mouse over the log in box just shows the mouse arrow and not the clickable finger.....

however on this computer i was able to log in by trying to reply even though i was not logged in

that took me to a lower log in screen that worked

As the computernerd most responsible I've just logged in using IE (normally only used by my teenager for facebook ) and am having no problems. It all looks the same as it does on the "other" browsers.

I wonder if your browsers need the Ctrl+F5 treatment? A bit rough, perhaps but neither of you are getting the expected user experience!

That big lump of full stops will cause the editor to go wide but for normal typing the text should be wrapping normally - slightly different from an automatic return but the way it has always behaved.

                      Hi Sarahk,

The new version is definitely guff on IE. I am using version 7.0.6001.18000 of IE and the page panels aren't resizing to the screen size. This leaves the wraparound not working.

It is because the post tables are simply going to any size. They need to fix to a percentage of the screen etc. This should be a configuration option in the site options.

I think you guys are using a standard open source forum website builder. There should be help on the open source community for this.

                      Cheers,

Needlessly harsh. Renders fine in IEv6! Also renders
well in Chrome & Firefox. Opera renders a large blank
area to the right, but what should display correctly
does do so, full screen, to the theoretical left.

Just so's you knows, folks: this change is a forced
change. Not one that PT sought. The old look would
no longer work on the newer vBulletin s/ware & older
                            versions become unsupported . . . .

A pain in the proverbial that no one wanted. Please
be patient and bear with us while the kinks get
the iron taken to them. It wont be a five-minute
                            fix, by any stretch.

Also looks good on Mac Safari and Chrome ... and Camino (Mozilla)
haven't bothered with FFox yet. (We um, don't have IE on Macs anymore.)

Kinks are jus' part of the journey. It's obviously a BIG upgrade.

We're still here, some of us -- it said '106 people logged in when I started writing this... which indicates, well, I don't know what exactly, but something...

PS I love Sarah's opening ... "As the computernerd most responsible..." Nice!
