....only optional for those who prove they have 'cyclist insurance' - so we know they can pay their own way when they have an accident.

    cheers,

So you agree helmets can be optional provided your requirements are met?
      Sounds good to me.

I think stupid needs to be protected sometimes Letting people injure themselves because they are morons shouldn't be allowed in a decent society.

....umm you're showing your true colours Damap. Remember there are oodles of activities that are dangerous and undertaken by people whom are neither stupid nor morons.

          cheers,

I think you're sounding like a council urban planner:
''I know what's best for you and, by god, you'd better do what I say or else"
You've allowed to think that but sometimes you might want to conceal those thoughts from others.
How many people admire urban planners employed by councils?

How would the kilometers I ride alter the debate about 1cm of polystyrene strapped to our heads?
Are you suggesting no-one should comment unless they ride 100 km per week or some such distance?
Will you be asking if I shave my legs next?

Instead of making assumptions, why not just answer the question?

                          It's pretty obvious you'd be a leg shaver/waxer Bob.
