What sort of insurance is best for a tenant to protect landlord?

Ive will be moving into a rental house, and was wondering what sort of insurance to get - that protects me and the owner from events like "kids running bath water over", “washing machine overflow” etc.

I dont mind my stuff getting broken, but i wish to be covered for the owners stuff like carpets, walls etc etc.

Any ideas what to ask for ?

    Thanks in advance.

Tenants should get their own contents insurance as it usually also includes coverage for accidental damage to other peoples property.
If something expensive does happen (eg burning down the house) then you might end up with the LLs insurance company taking you to court.
And it need not be you who caused the damage - all tenants are jointly liable for damage.

A tenant in my building is currently very grateful he has a policy, since he overflowed a shower (don't ask) down through 4 floors. I'm glad too, since I decided I would carry my own risk for contents, and have had to dry uplift & dry out carpet, and may have a paint job as well. Plus initial callout for plumber after hours & my property manager's commission on top of it all.
I tell all tenants they shld insure, but suspect not all do.
