Bottled Gas Suppliers. Trying to shift charging to Landlords.

Retenanted a property over the weekend. Has bottled gas for hot water supplies. (good to). The new tenant rang the gas supplier who the previous tenants have used and whose near fulkl bottles are remaining, to be told that gas supplies were the responsibility of the Landlord and she should tell me (the landlord) to ring and arrange supply.
On checking with my PM I'm imformed that they are doing this more and more.

The duoploy that supplies bottled gas seems to think thay can make the Landlord responsible for the grocery supplies of the tennant.
The reason being of course that they are so stuppid at running thier business that they grant tenants credit instead of either insisting on prepayment or joining the other thousands who carry mobile eftpos and insisting on payment on delivery.Watchout for this to spread. Resist it or you will become responsible for a tenant not having gas when they want it or all the other crap that goes with this.

Nice try but I'm already chasing tenants for water rates and I'm not adding gas to the bill!

We pay for the 45kg bottle hire. Nothing else.

Ditto. Refills are entirely the tenants responsibility. If they don't pay their account, they don't get further refills. Easy.

Ask me to pay for refill and then get $'s off tenant - I don't *cough* think so!!!!
        Patience is a virtue.
