    Real Estate Agents Desperate Tactics

The stress of a tumbling property market must be taking its toll on real estate agents who are now obviously under huge pressure to make a living.

The 5 year old Xin Xin snatched from an affluent but poorly selling suburb of Albany ... was kidnapped by a 25 year old Real Estate agent !!!

At least she is still alive.

Probably woudn't have been the case if it was a property investor that kidnapped her

Yes very interesting development on that kidnapping case. I read it was a property development business deal that went wrong.

The RE Agent was not the sort of person one would suspect in a kidnapping case - it makes you wonder....if times are not as bad as predicted will we see more out of character behaviour from desperate folk that can not cope?

        Cheers,

Apparently Agent's are now regularly quoting a sales commission of:

          4% of 1st $200,000
          2% of next $100,000
          First born child

          Fact.

Kidnapping people is how business is done over seas. In various parts of the world including Asia, Africa, The Middle East etc.

If we bring all of those people over here we get their ways of doing business as well. So we get the good and the bad from different ethnicities. We shouldn't really be surprised.

I reckon most agents are hurting right now (queue violins...) and they will reduce commission if asked.

If I was selling right now I'd be looking at a 50% reduction in commission. They'll do it.

                  ok

                  but what's next?

Clients/Vendors kindapping RE agents' children to make them put more pressure on buyers instead?

I'd say the image of Albany's just taken a body blow.

I'd quite happily had mine over to my RE Agent. Their constant bickering and fighting will have the agent yelling ENOUGH within minutes. That should get me a better deal...

"NO, I won't take them back until you halve your commission"

Well its 50% less sales at the moment so 50% less comission on each sale fits the bill really.

                        0.5 * 0.5 = 0.25

Well Blue if you quarter the income of their whole industry, wouldn't you expect there to be more desperation, haphasard crime and botched child abductions in the future?

I can really see new ex-realtor gangs and triads developing. And it's not a pretty sight.

This could really hurt the quality of criminal work nationwide. I can already see established crime professionals trying hard to differentiate themselves from the clumsy newcomers. Time for the NZ Kidnappers Guild to establish some strict, meaningful standards - they don't wanna go down the REINZ way and let any newbie tarnish their reputation.

If she was kidnapped by Ma*k the liar, she would end up a S&P agreement on a ficticious apartment and a guarantee of losing her parent's home.

What happens if they have two similar properties ant a similar price on thier books? I imagine they will push the one with the 100% commission. That 50% saving on commission could be a false economy.
