    Hardwood Floors - Worth it?

    Hi All,

    New here

Random questions - do people find real value from changing to hardwood floors? I have both an owner occupied/investment I'm looking to change to hardwood floors. Owner for aesthetic reasons, investment for maintenance reasons (current carpet is well worn). Any suggestions on if it is worthwhile and adds real house value? Both properties are approx 110sqm floor - what would be a good price expectation too?

    Thanks!

    Cheers
    Jase

I wouldn't change the investment to hardwood, it will get ruined anyway. For your own house, do what you like, for selling, it is something I would place a higher price for when I look for my own house.

Agree with the above. Have you got quotes? It's pricey. That's why most people do those sh*t floating floorboards.

I would just stick with carpet for all dry areas, unless the lounge and dinning areas have original wooden floor.

Tile for wet areas like bathroom and kitchen.

Hard flooring is expensive. there is luxury vinyl if you want something looks similar to hardwood but better wearing and cheaper. you can also do laminated flooring but I personally don't like them. Carpet is generally the cheapest option.

There's quite a lot of different options for timber flooring now. The guy that runs this timber flooring business (NZ Timbers) is a real mine of information if you're interested in talking to someone about it.

Wood Flooring! Always for the natural raw material wood. It gives character to the rooms and all of a sudden they appear spacious and deeply comfortable.

The wood’s naturalness and warmth transform the ambience of the home and has a lasting positive effect on the quality of life.

Wood Flooring for a healthy indoor climate:
Already in the early days, humans learned to appreciate wood as a natural raw material that is robust and durable, yet comfortable and warm, whether for the use as a floor or as wall panels. A wood floor brings nature into your home.

Wood floors has a positive effect on the room climate due to its natural properties: wood is hygroscopic, which means that it absorbs air humidity and releases it in doses into the atmosphere. This is why wood floors are particularly suitable for people suffering from allergies.
