  • Hobosonville Point reviews

We are purchasing a home at Hobsonville Point, Auckland with GJ Gardner and the service has been pretty poor. Would like to hear from others and their experiences with the various builders there.

We thought building a home would be enjoyable and you could expect a level of customer service but looks like you are just a number. The correspondence has been limited and the attention to detail and workmanship has been pretty average. Would like to know whether we just had a bad experience or is this happening to others, thanks.

Good builders are hard to come by and they are in such demand that often the companies have to make do with the tradeys they can get.
GJ Gardener franchises so each franchise is run independently and responsible for their own contractors. Unlike an independent builder who is ultimately responsible for his work.
Same happened in ChCh post earthquake, reason why I would never consider a Mike Greer home, of which there are 1000's being built in Auckland and of course they are a preferred contractor to the Govt. Plenty of work and not enough good workers.
Sorry it hasn't worked for you as building new is an awesome experience. Can't do much about the communication but you should have a warranty which will sort out the lack of attention to detail and workmanship. Bit like those block houses going to auction on Sunday night, who would want one of those?
