  • Superannuation - compulsory employer contributons during 2003-2013?

    Hi

I apologise if this is a really basic question, i've been researching online for an answer and I just cannot figure things out.

I lived in New Zealand between 2003-2013 and worked in PAYE jobs.

I moved to Australia in 2013 and am now attempting to consolidate my pension/super contributions that I have made in countries I have worked in.

What i'm trying to figure out is whether there are superannuation contributions in my name in NZ. I cannot figure out if my paye employers had to make compulsory super contributions during 2003-2013. I know I opted out of KiwiSaver when it was introduced.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

If you opted out of Kiwisaver, this exercise is very simple. You have no contributions in New Zealand.

Unless, that is, your employer operated their own plan. But no one on the forum here would be able to tell you that.

If it is possible Kiwisaver contributions were made before opt out, IRD can tell you. You can ask them how to set up online access to your IRD account so you can see for yourself. Easy if resident in NZ, not sure about non residents though as the usual activation code is via NZ mobile.

      Other super, ask the employer.
