      Hi Muppet

My library is growing and I have a couple of the books you have mentioned.

The Mark Withers "Property Tax in NZ" is very good. That is the kind of book you need. No nonsense, how it works, what to do etc.

I have also recently bought a book called "Where to Live in Auckland". It is a comprehensive guide to each area in Auckland and surrounds. I think it is a must have for anyone is not familiar with Auckland.

I am reading Anita Bell at the moment.

Good post! I need some reading material over Christmas and New Year!

I want to get my first development or large scale renovation underway in 2004.

Any further help in this area would be very much appreciated

        Regards

There are loads of books in NZ about property investing. There are more NZ books about property investing than UK ones in the UK!

I would go to your local bookshop and have a browse of everything.

There are lots of books recommended on this site (links on the website itself as well as people's recommendations in the forum).

My personal favourite for a book to get you started in property investing per se is Building Wealth Through Residential Real Estate by Dolf De Roos and Jan Somers, but judging from your post that may not be what you are looking for.

When you say large scale renovation, do you mean structural changes to one property or a large property like a block of flats?

              Books

              Hi there,

Muppet, I believe Steve's book is going to be released at some stage to NZlanders, so stay tuned.

Other books: One Minute Millionaire (which Minimogul read to me whilst I was in NZ, so I bought it because I thought it was excellent)

This you may be able to find in the library as it is currently out of print...
"Investing in Real Estate on a Budget" Falkson, Alan J
It has a section on NZ (although it is 10 years old already)

I haven't read this book yet, but everyone knows about the " Rich Dad Poor Dad" Robert Kiyosoki's series.

I also suggest buying some Property Investing Magazines, which have a variety of articles, which are all current.

              Cheers

                LeanneS,

I've read a few property investment books - more along the lines of how to get started in property investment. Now that I have started - I'm keen on looking at buying either a block of flats, or a few houses in a street or if with a couple of others maybe the street.

These properties will need extensive cosmetic work and may even need structural too. Being a novice in the reno area I am keen to learn from other peoples experiences so thought there may be some recommendations on renovation and development.

                Cheers for your input.
