Best investment real estate locations in the world?

If you had US$200,000 to invest in real estate. which locations would you choose to invest for best short term and best long term investments?

I'd invest in NZ long term because of our great tax laws and consistent capital growth and Fiji for speculative stuff or shorter as it is going nuts at the moment with many people making huge profits in relatively short time frames.

I would definately invest (and have) in Tier 2 cities in China such as Wuhan, Xian, Chongqing, and Chengdu in a 5 year investment plan. Various reasons.
      1. Supported by governmental "go west plan" aimed at income disparity realignment
      2. Huge investments in local infrastructure including subways, bullet trains, highways, etc
      3. Can pick up prime properties for around NZ$100k with about 8% rental yields annually
4.Have already seen 30% increases in 6 months on purchases in Xi'an
      5. Located in hi-tech development zones, and are attracting massive investment from foreign firms.
      6. Populations in excess of 7 million people = impressive buying power.
7.Renminbi is finally unpegged from US$, increasing slowly and has potential to jump sharply.
      8. Five year investments bypass capital gains taxes.
9.Market showing no signs of cooling despite governmental regulatory measures
      10. Market is maturing and showing greater transparency.
      11. Quality is improving as government clamps down on dodgy developers
      etc
In fact I have even sold my land on Great Barrier (at a tidy 600% profit in 8 years) to purchase 3 further properties in China.
Of course a bit of care is required, but a smart investor will see great rewards

I would personally prefer Spain. First it is a beautiful place to live in and then the market is good for foreign investors.

          Hi Nikkie,

Have you looked at your local area? Investing local may be easier than long distance. Wheather a market is in a boom, slump or flat period there are always good buying opportunities.

          All the best,

          Niall
