The real problem is human industrial pollution. Smog. Dirty water. Poisoned soil. That is real, easy to see, and has an impact today. Right now. Kill the bacteria in the soil and you wont be eating any longer.
That's what the climate change movement is focused on.

And that message drowns out everything else that is actually happening such as pollution, over fishing, over-population, deforestation, bio diversity collapse etc. And this is why I hate the climate changers.
They are taking the focus away from what needs to be actually addressed AND by doing so, they are crying wolf. So when it turns out (and is accepted) climate change is all BS, people will never listen to environmentalists again about the problems I list above. That is the real danger IMHO.Squadly dinky do!

If you examine the scientific articles warning of climate change, they do point to retreating icesheets, inexplicable death of bees, and acidification of the southern ocean etc. All of these events are traceable - at least in part - to human activities. Industrial society is adding poisons to the biosphere and that has cumulative effects.
Climate change policies such as a carbon tax are aimed at causing us to change our ways, to pollute less often, to cherish the environment. Anyone I know who is concerned about climate change acts on it as an impetus to change their lifestyle and reduce pollution.
But I do take your point Davo - the message is lost at the public level.Last edited by Winston001; 18-06-2012, 03:25 PM.
