    South of Chch

Would anyone care to comment on the current state of property values in the general Cashmere hills area: going up, coming down, good value or overpriced?
We are soon to move to Chch and my (rusty) memory tells me this would be a nice area to live in.

Just a general idea would be great.

      Hi!
Cashmere is really, really nice place to live. Lots of people share this point of view and would love to live there too. Actually, to such an extend, that prices have skyrocketed there and generated ripples of such a force that st Martins, Opawa and Spreydon (????!!!) became kind of cool too....
There seems to be heaps of houses there that are not affected by property cycle because of their status.(The most expensive house in Chch apparenly is being buit there by this guy who sold his auto garage door opener company).
I personally don't see any further increases happening there at all (prices are already CRAZYY!) and there are lots of not-that-good properties there that command quite high prices because of the location. Cashmere high is a cool school too.
Kieran's report should help here indeed, because it compensates for the average prices offset one or two expensive properties sales can create.
And yeah, Do not buy or rent anything on the Dyers pass road - boyraces will make your nights sleepless!
      Cheers
      Ivan

        There's nothing like local knowledge!

Thanks for the info, guess I was hoping the boom hadn't pushed values too much, but as it will be our home, not an IP, I quess we will just smile and wear it.

And thanks for the heads up on the hoons!
