Can one reinstate a minor unit

We have been looking for a legal home and income for our family who have just taken on our elderly parents. Today we saw a home and income (maybe granny) that seems suitable. However I'm confused.
The LIM report for the house was consented to be a New dwelling and minor unit. The property was signed off with CCC as a new dwelling only and soon after it says that the kitchen was removed. What are the implications if we buy this home to reinstating it as a minor unit? Why have the owners not done it themselves? Can it actually be signed off as a home and income - it still has the kitchen with a separate stove?

So the LIM says the kitchen was removed but it wasn't?

Not as simple as simply reconnecting the kitchen. Would also need to look at things like services, parking, yards, etc.

Take the LIM report and ask a council property planner.

You should get definite and clear answers.

Wayne, Well it says the kitchen was removed but its definitely still there will stove and oven under it.
AMR, There is sufficient parking but I don't know about other H&I requirements
I think Gary Lin's suggestion of taking it in to council and asking would be best. I don't want to buy something illegal.
          Thank you

Welcome to the "minor unit grey area club" .Membership is growing daily.

Technically speaking "granny flats" are not supposed to be rented out to other than aged relatives. They are not allowed to be advertised as "home & income".
Its a bunch of bollocks though.
