  • Lowest maintenance garden solution

Hi Guys. We have a property with a lot of gardens that have raised timber borders. They are a constant drama for tenant and PM. I'm not sure whether to weedmat and gravel, weedmat and bark? Plant dense ground cover? Other ideas?
What will make it the least headache to look after long term? What have people done that worked?

I find that good old weed mat and medium sized riverstones work best. Just set and forget and the weight of the stones negates any weed growth!

Option 1 - Subdivide and build - fixed most of my pesky large sections that way.
      Option 2 - concrete

Could make it a lawn, just a little extra to mow. Could put ground cover plants down and use newspaper like a temporary weedmat. Weedmat encourages the worst of weeds to come through eventually, although it does put them off for a year or two.

you could concrete it, give the tenant somewhere to put their old car bodies

Too narrow for that Jim, it's narrow raised beds around the house.
