Hi everyone. A friend of mine has just found out that her roof tiles are of the faulty lot that were produced a few years ago ie they are crumbling away. Does anyone know if there was any compensation put in place when it was discovered that that era of tiles were faulty? Or, is it possible to claim insurance for this?

Not necessarily. Under the NZBC they have not met their durability requirements. If it was me I would be contacting whoever I can to find out who built the house and thus who the roofing contractor is. If they have not yet gone out of business, she may get some recompense.Originally posted by Frankie8 View Postthanks for that. They were installed before she bought the place so prob = caveat emptor eh?

There are only two main roof tiles in Nz Monier and Ross's so should be able to get them to fix it.

Who are both now owned and operated by Ross Roofing. Thus, one point of contact.Originally posted by alhoon View PostTotal agree

If it was me, I would give their maintenance manager a call and let them know that I have a house with a recent re-roof that is sub-standard. There is a very very very very remote chance that they were not supplied by either Ross or Moniers, but it is worth the try.
