Hi everyone
Has anyone had experience with lack of permit for a dwelling?
Daughter has had a LIM done on a property in Tokoroa which shows permits for fire, deck, garage but not house. This is apparently not new in Tokoroa and has happened elsewhere, especially where councils have amalgamated. Spoke to council and they have told me that the problem also occurs when someone like Carter Holt has had one permit to build say 50 houses and the paperwork has not reached the files of some of the houses. Housing Corp houses also suffer from the same problem.
They recognise that this situation has arisen for various reasons and are comfortable with the properties, especially as there have been further permits issued.
My concern is the insurance implications. We are in the process of finding out from Westpac ( who will hold the mortgage on this property ) how their Insurance division will view this.
Council have told me most of the Tokoroa based insurers don't have a problem with it.
I've advised her to get this in writing from the Insurers.
Any body had experience with this situation?
cheers
Phil
