I'm reasonably sure that members of the REINZ are not bound by the standard commission rates and that they can agree to a different method of payment.

Look at things from the agent's point of view: If your asking price is within the current market range, with no potential fishhooks, and if it's a sole agency, then any agent will be negotiable re commission.
