    Landlords Insurance

    Hello all,

Looking for views on the current landlord insurance options out in the Aussie market.

    Whats the best?

    Cheers

    Hi Marc,
The insurance that I've always searched for in Oz is standard public liability, and the obligatory $10,000 contents cover. This has been very hard to find however. One mob I did find that would do this was CGU. I have never needed to claim, but their rates are good for this lower end insurance.

      Hello Scallywag,

Why do you need standard public liability?

      Cheers

        Marc,
I should have mentioned that these policies all relate to units. The body corporate insurance covers the building. My major concern has always been public liability as in Australia it is quite different to NZ. Here a tenant can sue you for everything if a personal injury occurs and they can prove liabilty. Its quite out of control.

          Hello!

Yes - I had to quickly look at our landlords insurance policy for our apartment in Melbourne and we have it covered just incase the tenant slips on the bath mat!

          Cheers
