What are you reading at the moment?

I've recently borrowed a friend's book, and it's proving to be an excellent read (for me). It's "Maximum Achievement" by Brian Tracy. He studied human nature and seems to have to got to the core of certain behaviours, and more importantly how to change those behaviours that aren't working for you.

My agnostic self is also trying to digest a contemporary language edition of the New Testament ("The Message"), but after seeing the video "Passion of the Christ" the ending is looking a bit gruesome. For me this book poses more questions than answers (so far). I don't think I will be destined for harps, cherubs and angels, somehow.

Are you out there reading anything currently that is really spinning your wheels that is related to property, motivation, spirituality or Ferraris?

You may be interested in watching "The Da Vinci Code Decoded". It's an interview-style documentary, and easier to digest if you are starting to get interested in religion.

Also read "Not $1 More" by Joseph Eamon Cummins. Tips on how to buy at bargain prices. American book, but adaptable to other countries.

Not related to property in any way whatsoever, but well worth watching: "Deep Blue" - utilises a bit of the CG in places (or so it seems) but still, amazing cinematography, and kinda makes you realise there's more to this world than sitting in front of a computer

Excellent idea! I love to know what books other property investors enjoy. Here's one I just finished reading: "As Old As Auckland" by Lawrence D. Nathan, 1984

David Nathan, the founder of Lion Nathan, landed in Russell in 1840 with some general merchandise he brought over from England to sell. Starting from a tent, he very soon saw opportunity after opportunity. He was a salesman, then importer, auctioneer, shipping agent, banker, Kauri gum exporter, and on and on. Also very significant was his vast investment in properties to build up his wealth.

What I have learned from this book is that if you believe, you'll find opportunities everywhere. It does not matter where you are. It's the mind that counts. And, property has been, and will be, the key vehicle to wealth.

I'm currently reading "Think Like a Billionaire" by Donald Trump. Pretty light reading - especially the Real Estate chapter. But some good quotes e.g.-

"Ultimately, time is more valuable than money, because if you run out of money, you can start over again. But when you've run out of time, there's no starting over."

I am not much of a reader apart from this forum but have been trying to digest "Grow Rich with the Property Cycle" by Kieran Tras. I just hope I do not become one of those anal-lysing type and miss opprotuinities.

Potemkin- Prince of Russia- An historical biography. He was consort to Catherine the Great in around 1780. He expanded Russia into the Crimea and took control of the baltic sea and together they reformed how Russia treated its "serfs'. Brilliant read

What I'm reading

The Seven Daughters of Eve by Bryan Sykes

This is the second time I have read this book, as I found it really good reading.

Puts forward the idea that all humanity can be traced by to seven women in Europe, by using modern day mitochondrial DNA, and the scientist path in reaching his conclusions.

Sounds heavy ready but is actually really enjoyable.

And doing the odd Su-Doku (numbers puzzle) when I can fit it into the day.

just finished "Grow Rich with Property Cycle" which was very informative and I highly recommend to anyone planning to strat investing

Currently reading "The ABC's of building business team that wins" by Rich dad advisors. It is not bad and aplicabale not only to business

Looking at starting "Sales Dogs" by same author and "successful trust management" by Ross Holmes.

Does anyone have feed back on those two?

I wonder if you would be able to let me borrow the "successful trust management" by Ross Holmes book, I have just completed structuring my Trust, nonetheless would be interested in reading a bit more about them. Have you lent books out to friends, what is your view on sharing books this way?

I have just re-read the Millionaire next year by Stanley and Danko. Although it's an American study, the authors' findings are globally compelling. The key message focuses on time, get into investments and hold on for good as much as possible and for as long as possible.
