                ^ That's a shame.
Retirement should be about be living in a location with a wide of choice with friends, acquaintances, hobbies and activities to enjoy.
Not having to move countries to chase a few extra quid.

                        Analysts predict dairy disaster ahead
Dairy price forecasts are turning ugly with analysts predicting steep global market falls still to come and the slump lasting longer than New Zealand farmers expect.

Good point - the rule is
You may be able to get New Zealand Superannuation if you:
                          • are aged 65 or over
                          • are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
                          • normally live in New Zealand at the time you apply.

You must also have lived in New Zealand for at least 10 years since
you turned 20. Five of those years must be since you turned 50.

So if you are 65 and come back to NZ (having lived and worked in Aus for most of you adult life (or certainly from before you were 50) you would have to wait 5 years before getting NZ Super.

What would they be eligible for in Aus assuming they don't have full residency (ie allowed to work and pay tax but not get a benefit)?

                            don't know the numbers

but if they had been 55 + they moved to oz in 1995

they might decide it was time to return
