    under schedule 1 you can replace a weatherboard with a weatherboard and no building consent required (due to the age of the cladding as over 15 years old).

    You lose transparency and accountability that a building consent provides but if you go the consent route be prepared to spend 5000 on pland and specs and the same on consent fees. Keep a good photo record including getting getting the timber checked and recoated with Boron preservative with a red dye so you know that this was done.
