    I think I have found the root of the tall poppy syndrome.
    As it turns out, in most religions “pride” Is the most serious of sins.
    In Christianity it is one of the seven deadly sins - that all other sins grow from…and the one that caused Satan ( God’s favorite angel) to fall from grace.

    Both Hindus and Arabs also site it as a really big no no.

    The ancient Greeks, whom most of our Legal and ethical thinking comes from, also site it as being particularly nasty …even giving it the name “Hubris”.
