  • Landlord out of control fined thousands

Well, this is not the time to bury your head in the sand. This Landlord is not helping anyone particularly not himself.

Whenever is it okay to give a couple of weeks notice?

Whenever is it okay to remove the front door?

    cheers,

    Donna

For every scumbag, idiotic LL, there are five or ten tenants of the same ilk.

That's a funny way to look at it.

Wouldn't you say that there are 5 good landlords for every bad one?

I would hope the number would be much higher than that!

Agreed. More like 95 good to 5 bad.

The tenants ratio is less sanguine, though.

The landlord seems to have his head in a deep dark hole. And I would say his tenants are more, not less sanguine.

Landlord's behaviour is bizzare in that he removes the door?? And substitutes with branches?

Why not just change the locks? What.. The... F xxx.

I did not make that clear - sorry.

              I meant NZ-wide tenants-in-general.

Not those of the scumbag LL in question.

                Yes Perry.

Matter of fact I applaud their restraint and it says more of their integrity than their insane Landlord. It is borderline to discrimination in my opinion.

I wonder if it's that most LLs cringe at such rogue LL behaviour, while
most tenants never cringe at scumag other-tenants' behaviour?

After all, LLs have 'skin in the game.' Tenants have none.

Aided and abetted by the KK Tenants' Tribunal / Chris FarGoneBoy, et al.

Another part of the problem is media and public bias [stereo-typing] that:

                  * all tenants are angels

                  and

                  * all LLs are greedy cretins.

A 'value-judgement' that never seems to be applied to supermarkets, cell phone plan providers, electricity supply extortionists, councils, etc.

                      O.K.

But why are private residential rental LL providers villified

                      while

private residential tenant food supply providers are not so villified?

                      Serious question, BTW.

Could you give an example of "private residential tenant food providers"?

The goal - as stated by the Greens - is to destroy residential property investing.
Finally the COL have a success!

I think the point here is a tenant much like any person in NZ has costs..many of those costs seem extraordinary like food prices, fuel prices, entertainment, trades people, council rates and spending, insurance..in fact most have no reality to base cost or why base cost should be out of alignment with average income..

Compared with the rest of the world these appear out of control and without regulation or downward pressure..most involved appear determined to drive costs up and get more..

none of these appear to be in scope for containment..only the mum and dad owning a house they spend most of their time attempting to maintain as their investment is in the papers..it’s really
                            onesided..

And at the same time ruin their party too. I doubt they'll get the 5% - they lack the real 'Green' focus. Happy to be tied to Labour's apron strings. The Greens have lost their way or as Winston says - 'they're away with fairies' . Politicking on wealth tax, landlords and deep socialism with their 'fairer communities' doesn't appeal to environmentalists who want a party driven by reducing CO2 emissions, clean energy etc.

                              cheers,
