Ok I'm a Political atheist and I am definitely no fan of Don Brash...but he was a former Reserve bank governor..

"From a cold-blooded administrative perspective, it is actually important to know when the benefit of saving a human life is outweighed by the cost. Likewise when the death of a few may be necessary in order to secure a more abundant life for the many. In ‘normal’ times there is no need to perform such ruthless utilitarian triage. Unfortunately, Brash’s premise: that we are no longer living in ‘normal times’; is incontrovertible "

"Where, he asked, should the limited resources of the state be expended? On saving the life of a 95-year-old cancer sufferer? Or, on a 5-year-old child with a surgically repairable hearing disorder?"

Respectfully Most of the deaths are the elderly..

Why weren't the elderly only self isolated?

Why did we just not spend
1 billion to take care of our elderly population in self isolation?

Why did we not look at this alternative solution?

The majority under retirement age WILL survive. ARE healthy and fit..WILL continue to work and pay the bills that will look after the elderly.

    Why?

Now many more will live in poverty, relationship abuse, unemployment, drug and alcohol abuse suicide, and no doubt many more deaths as a result of poverty, which leads to more health issues.

Look at the health statistics in the poor.
Scary thing is our unemployment rate is going to skyrocket .

Why is the cure worse than the disease.

    Answer:

    Money..it always leads to money.

Riots have already begun in Hubei province China..

Keep in mind this is China, the firm ruling communist state.
What's going to happen in western liberal countries if this lockdown goes 6 months or more?as has been reported in the UK.

    Herald definitely isn't reporting this.

The UK may have social distancing for 6 months - is this the same as our level 4 lockdown?

Its Its not so much the lockdown, it's what the damage will be as a result of the lockdown.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has warned New Zealanders should get used to border restrictions in New Zealand and overseas, saying they're likely to be in place "for some time".

She said border restrictions overseas would likely persist until a vaccine for the novel coronavirus, believed to be one year to eighteen months away at the earliest - some vaccines take a decade to develop.

Some people will be happy ,some like myself who travel will feel gutted.

I just don't believe the sacrifices are worth the loss off our freedom and liberty.
