yes but it also illustrates the absurdity in this whole TH saga. Only building work done on site needs a consent so the TH if manufactured off site doesn't need consent and the fact that it is on wheels even less so....

Is this of use to you?

A tiny home owner in North Canterbury has won his landmark court battle and says the judge's clear decision should help many others living small.
Alan Dall said it had been an incredibly stressful 16 months since the Hurunui District Council ordered his tiny home be demolished or comply with the Building Act.
He had applied for a determination from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to determine his caravan was not a building, but it sided with the council.
He appealed MBIE's decision and finally got his day in court on Tuesday. By Thursday, he was celebrating the judge's decision – that his home is indeed a vehicle.

this a timely and important win

meantime the government have imposed back door changes via RMA and national planning standard to make caravans buildings under the RMA so they are still coming after the TH's

It is an attack on property rights as it seeks to grab chattels as property whereas before if it was fixed to ground they didnt have a say.

So ridiculous - you'd think they'd have higher priorities like create more favourable terms for developers so they can profit from building smaller affordable homes.

No one really wants to live in a 'room' it's out of desperation, not desire. If these people could afford a 75 - 100 sqm home - that's well designed so the space is well planned they'd leap at it.

            cheers,

            Donna
