  • Parliamentary petition - Amend Healthy Homes Standards to allow a shower dome option

Please have a look, sign if you agree and feel free to pass the link on.

Just asking for shower domes to be an option- low maintenance and invented right here in New Zealand.

Petitions are addressed to the House of Representatives and ask that the House do something about a policy or law, or put right a local or private concern.

done - that was the shortest document relating to the government I have ever read.

It would be great if some more practical changes were proposed and made to Healthy Homes.

That was brought up many times during consultation. They can not say they did not know about them. Seems they simply dismissed them. Good luck.

      Edit to add.

I'm sure I just spent 60 seconds doing that petition (including reading it).

As Keys has said, this is not going to be successful. Its not new info for them.

But I've signed. No harm. Good cause.

Might not get anywhere, I know, but it is election year and a parliamentary petition has to be referred to a select committee. And there has been a fair bit of anecdotal evidence about landlords selling up because of (various) new rules. Not to forget plenty of angst from tenants trying to find somewhere to rent.

And just to add, I got a bee in my bonnet about a great New Zealand invention and manufacturer being ignored when it didn't need to be.

Thanks for the support. Please encourage people to sign.

Didn't even need to read it. Just know that it is right. Got a few in my houses. the first one I put in 16 or more years ago. Still don't expect dumb crazies like pollies and their mother's little helpers to be bothered. Worse is that that twat Twyford even exists in Parliament. It hurts every time I pay more tax that so many useless get paid so much.

Thanks for the support Donna. A mention in the newsletter will be fantastic, much appreciated.

Today I had a quick look at some of the other petitions. It's an alternative universe, with some seriously wacky petitions. Quite a few have only a (literal) handful of signatures, a lot have only one and a few with zero. Mine is actually one of the bigger ones. So fingers crossed.

Shower domes should be an alternative to extractor fans for HH standards

As someone who has installed domes AFTER putting in fans a couple of times and seen all problems disappear I agree 100% with this petition. They are cheaper and better. If you agree it takes a few seconds to sign.

Obviously this works in bathrooms with a shower only and not a bath but that is an awful lot of bathrooms!

surely baths have minimal issues compared to a shower head? Isnt the problem primarily a shower issue?

Yep signed too - that one always narked me as we put in shower-dome during a reno then had to put in the extractor fan too. What also narks me is the requirement for an extractor fan in open plan kitchens - clearly a small fan will not make an ounce of difference in large room and most renovated homes have the open plan so why wasn't this thought of - or am I missing something?

                            cheers,

I find with my tenants in south auckland rental properties, they don't care if you install the Rangehood for them with filters in the kitchen, They don't have the time to clean and wash the Rangehood filters every fortnight or monthly. Every property inspection i check the range-hood filters as it is my first priority nowadays due to fire hazards, non of the tenants given me nice and clean filters on the inspection day,
Some properties i installed air vents and they are working fine and doing better job than Rangehood.
With the law changing to range-hood( not quite sure on the exact requirement ) in the kitchen will create lot of problem for landlords as tenants not going to wash the rangehood filters as required. More guidance needed from this property talk
