It might be that it’s election year? Maybe they’re just trying to get a reading on the public? Who knows, but I hope they learn something from sitting in.
Isn't it good that they want to be informed?
They may sit in, as can I, but they can't speak or influence the proceedings so I still don't get why you are scared?

I think anyone who’s new to a TT hearing can get a little scared, maybe after I’ve been to a few more that may not be the case but when you don’t know many of the faces around you, looking at you and listening to everything you say it does add another level of fear.

That may not be the case with every landlord but I’m certainly not ashamed to say that my first TT hearing was terrifying even though it wasn’t complicated and I came out ok, it’s still not a place I would voluntarily go again if I had the choice.

I can get that but you did try to politicize this with your comment
we’re too bloody scared to use the 90 day now just in case some bleeding heart Labour minister goes “oh poor, tenant they were just misunderstood you landlords have no heart” (but obviously an open check book and unlimited funds)

Having a Labour minister announce they were a Labour minister on arrival is not helpful and endearing me to their party in away way and was uncalled for so yes, I’m not a Labour fan.

You'd rather they didn't say who they were?
    Can't please some people!

Does it matter who they are? No one else seemed to think they needed to address themselves?

I don't think it matters who they were but you seemed to.
I gather you'd rather they just sat there and not fess up who they were.
If you later found out who they were I suspect you'd then complain that they were being sneaky. I suspect they wanted to be open and honest about who they were.
