Hi Guys,
I have recently moved into a 1960s weatherboard house with wooden flooring all overthe living area including in the bathroom. There is a funky/mouldy smell in the bathroom. Not sure how to get rid of it. Please help.

Bucket of warm water with a bit of bleach -> clean (ask your mother what that is).
Then maybe look at better extraction fan, shower dome - to keep the moisture down.

as well as the above if a problem associated with the bathroom..........wooden flooring???
is it strip T and G type? If so you could be getting smells from the subfloor area. Check if the area under floor is dry and well ventilated. Things can be done to improve this. Dampness can leak through between T and G boards.

Can you get underneath and put black plastic down over dirt? You may see a leak from underneath too.
Get some drano drain unblocker and follow instructions for all plug holes. Maybe nasty slime growing down there which smells. Modern showers have the easy clean drains that can be pulled up. Probably full of long hair and body fat.

Get a good dehumidifier; put it in the bathroom; close the bathroom 'tight;' and run the dehumidifier on maximum / continuous for at least a week.

You may be shocked at how many times you need to empty the reservoir.

Yes i am the owner. Moved in about 3 weeks ago.

Smelly bathroom – an indication of moisture in pipe carrying walls or flooring.
Inspect the underfloor and plumbing work. Sometimes creating airflow and ventilation dries out the problem. If there is a water problem below the house (leak, storm water, sewer pipe, etc), well ... good luck.
