Anyone knows any Americans who own a rental in NZ?

I am asking on behalf of my American friends. They migrated to NZ and bought a house. Now they are un-migrating and moving back to the States but they want to keep their house and rent it out.

What's the best structure to rent out their house? The only 2 I could think of was keep in personal name vs creating a trust.

But maybe it's in the too hard basket ...

They could keep it in their own names, move it to a Trust, or create a company (with or without electing to become an LTC).

They will need tax advice from an accountant stateside to work out which of these is the best choice for them. Chances of finding that on an online forum are pretty low, and finding it for free is even less likely. Sorry!
