  • Moisture barriers

Has anyone gotten a definition of just what ''enclosed'' actually means...we have 1 bungalow with wood covering sub floor area
the wood has 25mm gaps in between them and theres plenty of ventilation.....Its bone dry

Second bungalow has T&G around sub floor,,,there are no gaps but theres still ventilation and its also bone dry underneath
In terms of common sense it would be stupid to have to put a moisture barrier on a bone dry underfloor area

an inspection (like the insulation crowds do)would clear this up but Im not sure thats an option

Has anyone gotten a definition on this......

"Bome dry" opinion! Common sense he asks! Why not ask for world peace and an end to hunger while you're at it. Those seem more realistic.

I did see somewhere not having a hatch wasn't enough but I'm not sure where I saw that. The rest is coppied from: Tenancy.govt.nz,

Exemptions to the moisture ingress and drainage standard

There is one specific exemption to the moisture ingress and drainage standard. This exemption covers properties where it is not reasonably practicable to install a ground moisture barrier.

It is not reasonably practicable to install something if a professional installer can’t access the area without:

carrying out substantial building work, orcausing substantial damage to the property, orcreating greater risks to a person’s health and safety than is normally acceptable, orit is otherwise not reasonably practicable for a professional installer to carry out the work.

YeaH its a bit crazy that the moisture doesnt have to be present.....Are shirting boards over the sub floor area with gaps in between ''enclosed''?

There seems to be a growing blindness between decent dry houses with fair rent and exploitation shacks with mold enough mold growing to start a mushroom farm.....If they are going to make regulations ,youd think they would step up and do their part in terms of allowing inspections for exemptions

also could we have world peace and end to hunger please(actually overeating kills more than those who die of starvation now)
