Most landlords now know that Healthy Rental Standards are coming. Wrt bathroom ventilation it is disappointing that an innovative Kiwi product is not permitted as an alternative to an extractor fan despite offering a cost effective, low / no maintenance solution that actually works and needs no wiring, venting or exterior penetration.
I'm talking about showerdomes - the company is based in Auckland, manufactures in Tauranga. Lots of information on their website - showerdome.co.nz
Our property maintenance company has installed lots of these. We and our customers love them. Now we have to install extractor fans to solve a non existent problem.
If you agree including showerdomes as an alternative is a good thing, please let your local MP know, and also consider contacting Judith Collins and Megan Woods. National will be publishing their housing policy for 2020 in the not too distant future so this is a good time to have changes considered.
