  • Body Corp management remunerations

    Hello, PTer's

A friend has been elected Chair of a body corp for a large city residential building.

There is a lot of work to do, including meetings, site visits, emails, administrative, fact finding etc.

Clearly she should be paid for her time. She is a professional woman, her time is valuable. What is the best approach to being remunerated? She prefers a clear audit trail to satisfy the committee.

We'd welcome any suggestions, thanks guys. Hound

In what way is this clear?

If there is a BC management contract the Chair and the Committee can leave most of the work to them. Committee members should have clear roles as well as the Chair. Suggest an honorarium for the Chair, possibly other committee members as well, to cover a specified number of hours (more or less) for the roles and then be reviewed time to time.

In practice might not work perfectly, you know, committees! But members can resign or threaten to.

If there is not a management contract, that is the first thing to be considered. Expensive, for sure, but avoids burnout of the 'volunteers' and resulting acrimony.

        About $1 pa.
The money comes from all the owners in the building - the more she takes, the more everyone else has to pay.
Keep her fees to the minimum.
As chair she can control/influence the building.
        That is priceless.

I think $1 pa is a bit light
Perhaps $10 per meeting to cover travel costs
