  • Renovating Kitchen - Need a consent?

    Hi Guys

We are thinking of renovating our Kitchen. The plumber who came in suggested that we would need a consent as we are looking at moving to GAS instead of electric cooking range. We won't be moving the Plumbing though.

Gas work is self-certifying so no, you don't need a building consent. And I would suggest changing your plumber/gasfitter since he doesn't know this.

4 eri: you don't need consent to install ordinary heat pump in residential dwelling

Energy work is exempt under s41 of the building act . Plumbing fixtures can be relocated and substituted under schedule 1 of the building act and exempt as well, as long as the total number on the property is not increased. (It has to be undertaken by registered trades man though)

Sounds a bit over the top, is the plumber qualified?
