  • A dark day.

    All the world's a stage,
    And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
    Seeking the bubble reputation
    Even in the cannon's mouth.

A very sad day - and our wee bubble has well and truly burst. PM spoke well. What now for NZ?

    cheers,

We are all to don head scarves and embrace islam.

The handmaid's tale - doesn't seem that far fetched and a version of it may be our reality in a decade or so.

I am now in my senior years. Me regrets for my generation are two-fold: that we failed to stop islam invading our cultures and the mis-use of plastic with its attendant effects on our enivronment and the species with whom we share our planet. The second is still not too late to solve. Our defence to the former is simply pretence that it doesn't exist.

In my 40+ years I have learned that no matter the race, religion, sexual orientation or other classification, every group has that 1% of evil amongst its population. But worse, they also have the 10% of ignorant who will judge a whole group by the actions of a few.

Yes and of course it wasn't muslims doing the shooting here. It was white caucasians from what I have seen. So are all us European looking folks terrorists? Of course not.

Having said that, whenever there is massive immigration resulting in different cultures mixing, there will be all sorts of disagreements. To pretend otherwise - that everyone will just get a long is a little naive.

But this was some sort of entirely extreme event. Shooting and killing or wounding nigh 100 people? There's no justification for that, and the people who did it are mentally unwell.
              Squadly dinky do!

                The grief first.
                so much sadness and loss.

                Then the waste.
Dreams and hopes and lives vanished in a moment.

Then ideas, groupings, territorialism, visual differences, belongings.

                Then the training and enablement.
I000 video games played, 1000 movies watched, 1000 conversations had.

But my mind rests finally, on the quite downcast look of a fellow human being, now lost a loved one.

MargVan - you pustulent illiterate piece of excrescence.

I take great heart in the fact you probably won't actually be able to understand that sentence without a dictionary, given the fact that you can't even type plain English - viz:

                  • "Me regrets ..."
                  • "enivronment"

50 people were murdered - I repeat, 50 people were _murdered_, and all you can bleat about is how Islam (yes, actually, you spell it with a capital "I", same as "Christianity") is invading our cultures.

How many mosques in Christchurch, versus Christian churches? Hardly an invasion of our culture, is it?

Go crawl back in the cesspit you stink of.

Don't feed the trolls, or you might attract more. If they're ignored they go back and sit quietly under their bridge.

                      Hi Marg.
                      Right now people are grieving.
Maybe at a later time we can talk about your life experiences.

I'd be very interested to hear your story.
                      I think I could learn a lot..

You'll just have to be careful how you phrase things , otherwise it could easily come off as hate speech.

I'm sure you're just a normal person reacting to real situations in your daily life.
And if you want to give me the benefit of that, well i'd be all ears.

Now probably isn't the best time though.

Agreed. No matter how eloquent we aim to be, it's easy to be misunderstood. This happens all the time in most of our discussions. Our saving grace however, is most discussion here is on the topic of property - which is our comfort zone.

What we do know is it's tough to make any sense of what has happened in Christchurch and we want to discuss it. Many of us will be going through the stages of grief even if we don't recognise it, so I believe we need to be more tolerant and sensitive when participating on these less comfortable topics. Preview what you've written and consider its possible impact on other posters before hitting the 'send' button. You can also edit your post within 10 mins of posting it too - I tend to do this often.

                        cheers,

There's zero reason to engage with anyone whose comments about an atrocity like this are a dig at Islam.
