In my 40+ years I have learned that no matter the race, religion, sexual orientation or other classification, every group has that 1% of evil amongst its population. But worse, they also have the 10% of ignorant who will judge a whole group by the actions of a few.

Yes and of course it wasn't muslims doing the shooting here. It was white caucasians from what I have seen. So are all us European looking folks terrorists? Of course not.

Having said that, whenever there is massive immigration resulting in different cultures mixing, there will be all sorts of disagreements. To pretend otherwise - that everyone will just get a long is a little naive.

But this was some sort of entirely extreme event. Shooting and killing or wounding nigh 100 people? There's no justification for that, and the people who did it are mentally unwell.

I take great heart in the fact you probably won't actually be able to understand that sentence without a dictionary, given the fact that you can't even type plain English - viz:

50 people were murdered - I repeat, 50 people were _murdered_, and all you can bleat about is how Islam (yes, actually, you spell it with a capital "I", same as "Christianity") is invading our cultures.

Agreed. No matter how eloquent we aim to be, it's easy to be misunderstood. This happens all the time in most of our discussions. Our saving grace however, is most discussion here is on the topic of property - which is our comfort zone.


What we do know is it's tough to make any sense of what has happened in Christchurch and we want to discuss it. Many of us will be going through the stages of grief even if we don't recognise it, so I believe we need to be more tolerant and sensitive when participating on these less comfortable topics.
