  • Change from Residential Living to Commercial/Living zone

    Hi all,

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this topic please
Our owner occupied home is located in the residential living zone of a small town (Rolleston). Our regional council's proposal is to change the zoning to a Commercial/Living zone. This is to create a town center which currently does not exist.
What would you do in this situation as the house owner?

    Cheers
    Austros

Not something that comes up every day!

I have no idea. I guess it might depend on what you can build in the new zone? Like can you have a pub next to you? Or a gas station?

Can you link to any plans for the new town?
    Squadly dinky do!

It probably means your land will become more valuable over time but it might not be a nice place to live with a family. It may take ages for much to be built there though if it is currently occupied by relatively new houses.

Ask what the impact on your rates would be. (Then double it!)

Luckily there will be takeaways, hairdressers, cafes etc

Apparently, I'm not allowed to post a link here.

What do you mean "double it"?
