  • Get Ripped Off With Pulse

I have a rental unit connected to Pulse Energy.
The unit has been vacant for several weeks awaiting renovation, and the hot water has also been disconnected.

Now received an invoice for the electricity.
39 days, kWh this period: 0
    Total owing $91.05

I can see why they call it Pulse - mine certainly went way up on receipt of this outrageous charge.

I use Powershop for all renos and between tenants. They charge usage only so I pay almost nothing at all

What do they charge per kWh for the power that you actually use?
      Under 10c?

The fixed line fee is related to the unit cost and the supply capacity.
Some of my sites are charged over $15 per day so your charge could be cheap
Anyway if you are not using any power disconnect the supply
        The cost will be zero

Don't know about Pulse but my main supplier has dozens and dozens of fees - including various disconnections, various reconnections.

Yes you need to choose the correct plan to suit the usage
But if there is going to be no usage then do not connect

              Right.

              Pay a disconnection fee

              then a

              reconnection fee

              plus a credit check fee

              plus . . .

the property has been empty pre-Chrismas.
However, renovations start next week and hopefully completed early-Feb so we need power on for that.

Went with Pulse, as the previous tenant was with them. However, I will certainly recommend to the next tenant that they change suppliers.

Some companies have a cheaper builder's temp connection fee.

Is a kilo Watt hour the same as a unit? If so, you're doing well. I pay 25.64c/unit

But you don't pay $2 per day on fixed charges.
Even if you use no power.

                            I suspect so.
High fixed costs, low charge per kWh.

However, in my discussions with Pulse at no time did they suggest a change of plan.

Yeah, that's bad. Other providers guarantee that they'll put you on the right plan or they'll refund the difference.
