In this article about the proposed changes facing landlords, it looked at the issue of rent arrears.
I can't recall the exact figure but aren't about 70% of the claims appearing at the Tenancy Tribunal about rent arrears?
Instead of accepting that unpaid rent is a serious problem caused by tenants, Robert spins it that the problem is actually the tenancy laws are in favour of the landlords:
In our view this does not indicate that rent arrears are a significant issue, rather it illustrates the extent to which the enforcement of the tenancy laws are already in favour of landlords."
When a tenant doesn't pay rent then how can you claim the tenancy laws are biased?
I'd love Robert to visit PropertyTalk to discuss his views on these matters.
Can anyone arrange it?
