I'm looking at purchasing a 2 bedroom unit, which has a large living area... there is potential for an alteration that could combine kitchen and living areas, and slice off half of the existing living area to become a 3rd bedroom. Bdrm 3 would have external window.

- What can be done without triggering consent?
- If this conversion needs to be registered with council, what is the mechanism for this?
- Is there a minimum size bedroom, if so where is this information found?
- Is it possible to move the main kitchen bench 10m to an opposite wall, or combine the bathroom and laundry?
- When it comes to selling, what are the key issues to be aware of, have covered off?
