Was looking at a house in Long Bay, Auckland, was curious as to why both the targeted rates are classed as non business, yet they are charging Accommodation Provider rates classed as a business. The rates on the house next door valued the same are $3420.16. Wonder how many will stop.

When small businesses employ someone, they are obliged, by law, to give them 10 paid public holidays in addition to 20 annual leave days and up to five sick days. On average, one day in eight, a Kiwi worker can have off on full pay. Apparently this isn't enough. The Domestic Violence - Victims Protection Bill passed this week.

Now any small business employer who has the misfortune to employ someone impacted by domestic violence, must gift this person another 10 days paid leave. Forever. It does not matter if the employee wasn't the victim, so long as they were impacted by the violence. Nor does it matter if this crime happened decades before they began working for their current employer.

Once the employee can prove that they have been a victim of domestic violence they are, forever, entitled to be compensated by those employers whose only mistake was to offer them a job and an employer cannot contract out of that right. Which means some employers will quietly avoid employing staff they suspect will seek this new entitlement, limiting the employment options for victims of domestic violence.

Good idea for landlords to take a look at the short term rental sites, set up a search, to see if their places are listed.

The ever vigilant PIF had this to say couple of months ago about a TT case where the tenant sublet via airbnb -

'More landlords should ensure their tenants expressly agree not to sublet properties via Airbnb, the New Zealand Property Investors Federation says.'

The rates you quote are calculated on more than 180 days per year???

If you ae under 28 then no problem and gradualted after that under 135 days 25% APTR 189 days 50%
