    Default Handy Tip

Cross post from Reddit, following the Life Pro Tip:

If you're ever in a position of choosing a nursing home or assisted living facility for a loved one, go ask your local EMS service which one they'd choose.
    came the response:

I work EMS, and would have no problem if someone stopped by and asked this type of question. In addition, you can also ask about apartment complexes. For example if we go to one every night for overdoses and assaults and constantly hear police getting dispatched there, we can let you know it probably isnt the best complex in the world. I speak for myself here, not ems as a whole but I cant think of any provider I know that would have a problem answering stuff like this.
Possibly useful if you are looking in a new part of town.

Going into a rest home or retirement village? Consider cruises on the ocean. Potentially economical.

I like it, and say you do pop your clogs they can just drop you off the side, much cheaper
than funeral homes too, and eco-friendly- unless you've had to much plastic surgery/botox.

Can the Rest Home Care Subsidy be transferred and used in that way?

The 2017 cruise, which costs 24,000 (NZ$ 47,000 Aug 2018 $) for a 52-week voyage, save you 5,712, based on the average cost of living in London for a year at 29,712. And this is with wall-to-wall luxury on the open seas, fine dining, spa treatments and stopovers across the globe thrown in.

How much is a retirement home?
