New Auckland council rates for 2018-2019 are online now
Much to my disgust both the new targeted rates, the Natural Environment and the Water Quality Targeted Rate are levied on your capital value not as a flat rate.

with the shifting of 2017's $114 transport levy from rates to auckland fuel taxes

was hoping that the rates bill would drop - which would help pay for the higher taxed fuel

but of course with the way auckland council hemorrhage funds

they have split even more of their core activity into new levies

which together will cost me more than 2017's $114 levy

in 1 case an 18% increase in rates

so much for goff's pledge to keep the increase to 2.5%

knew when he made it that it was a lie

but hoped he would try and find the 2%? savings on council spending he also promised - but forgot once elected

was surprised when so many local body voters took his bogus pledges at face value

labour lies about tax increases

always have, always will

wonder when the new pensioner fun park levy will take effect

how much will it cost? - $20 per ratepayer?

how much more will the spin-doctoring cost? - $30? per ratepayer

in a confused attempt

to make the new levy seem

substantial, inconsequential, needed, always provided

and a saving in the long term
