Back in my first post I mentioned this one:
Below are a list of law-breaking things - all of which can lead to fatalities - that could be occurring that the speed camera cannot detect:
    * It was being driven by a driver under the influence of drugs
14 June 2018Now we just need more cash cameras to the rescue . . . ?

Here's a thought Perry. The driver travels in excess of 160km/hr for the majority of the distance between cameras and then stops off for a coffee. How can they sort that?

Speed cameras can easily be ignored when controlling the speed. Problems on the road and in communities are growing numbers of irresponsible people and the justice system that can’t cope. For most of us, well... as soon as somebody close to us has been killed we wake up... but it’s already too late.

The road toll - at some figure or other - is an acceptable risk that society tolerates.

A blowout; an exploding UJ; a trailer connection breaking, and so on - all can result in death-causing accidents. Add to the mix human factors like driver fatigue; inattention; changing CDs; drunkeness; whatever.

Speed cameras are cash cows and nothing more. Pretending otherwise only makes the W'gton woodenheads even more confirmed liars.

Interesting. And cars towing trailers, too, perhaps?

              And it's job is what?

              Generating government revenue, silly one.

The static (fixed) safe speed camera was installed in the 80kmh zone, near the corner of State Highway 1 and Huirapa St, Arowhenua, at the southern entrance to the town, as part of a $10 million plan to boost government revenue in areas across the country.

Speed cameras are a tax on stupid people, like gambling. And stupid people learn slowly.

Give it time and the number of tickets will reduce. But speeds before and after the camera will be maintained.

I would expect that it is catching regular users so once they get their ticket it will start to do its job - people will slow down so that they don't get another ticket.
After a while they will get used to it and slow down just before the machine.
