Hi - I am building a new residential property & evaluating installing 3-phase power in Porirua; the electricity retailer has not been able to provide information as they need an ICP, and the property has not been built yet so there is no ICP..
Does anyone have experience with this - I understand the meter box will be more expensive, as may the initial connection. However I am not sure if the fixed daily lines charge is impacted.
The reason I am installing it is to future-proof the property for electric car charging, and also to potentially install a high-throughput instant electric heater (which appear to cost the same as a water heater, and offer the benefits of gas instant heating w/o the need to pay for the gas fixed connection charge). Of course if residential 3-phase results in a far higher fixed daily charge then it won't make sense - but trying to figre this out at the design stage!
Any experience / insight?
